Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) Training of Trainer Course
Formerly known as Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA).

This one-day course gives all trainers the skills required to deliver Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) sessions in the workplace. Grow your confidence as a trainer and develop training and assessments skills.

This course is tailored for those responsible for the training/education and development of health and social care staff. It is suitable for those involved in providing, or managing, direct care to vulnerable adults whether in residential, domiciliary, or supported living settings. The ability to develop staff is just one of the essential skills of an effective manager; however, the ability to talk in public does not come naturally and many people find it a nerve racking experience. We can help you overcome this.

On successful completion of the course, new trainers will be able to deliver an interactive workshop session that covers:

  • Definitions of abuse
  • Forms of abuse
  • Signs of abuse
  • Strategies to minimise abuse
  • How to monitor individuals at risk of abuse
  • Reporting of suspected abuse
  • Completion of body maps
  • Organisational responsibilities
  • Current legislation and guidance

  • Covering competences 1 - 5 of the National Competence Framework, the workshop session will produce evidence towards unit HSC 024 within the Health & Social Care Diploma and meet Common Induction Standard 6: Principles of Safeguarding in Health & Social Care.
